Dear *{{Informal Name}}*, Looking back on the past year, it is amazing to see how much we have accomplished and how far we have come. Sometimes when we look at something as whole, it seems overwhelming, whereas if we look at at in small pieces to accomplish each day, it becomes doable. Such was the case when we were facing the challenges coming out of the pandemic and working to provide housing and resources for a much greater number of families.
We were able to rise to the challenge and exceed what seemed possible because we did it together. The spirit of compassion connects us all and allows each one of us to be a part of some much greater and more meaningful. Because we faced obstacles, we were gifted with the opportunity to learn, grow, and strengthen our bonds with the community and one another. So as we look forward to the holiday weekend, we are most grateful for the faith all of you have placed in Families Moving Forward and in the work we do. Faith is the foundation of vision, and it is because of that vision that we will continue to reimagine what is possible and inspire one another each and every day. |
The families of Kimberly and Durant moving into their new homes |
All of us at Families Moving Forward would like to to congratulate Kimberly on obtaining permanent housing for herself and Noa. Kimberly was disappointed on her return to Families Moving Forward due to circumstances beyond her control. After arriving, she was able to secure a job working from home with good pay and benefits, which enabled her to be referred to the Families Moving Forward Rapid Re-Housing program. She also informed the team that she needed to relocate to Lumberton, NC to be close to her terminally ill dad. Working closely with our Rapid Re-Housing team, she was able to identify and secure a beautiful three bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home with a huge backyard and a pecan tree. Upon signing her lease, Kimberly expressed her gratitude to the team for helping her to obtain housing within forty-five
days. During her monthly check-in, she shared how thankful she is to FMF for believing in her and giving her hope. She believes that without the FMF Rapid Re-Housing program, obtaining permanent housing would have been much more difficult.
We are also thrilled to congratulate Durant and his family on successfully transitioning into their new home. The family moved into Families Moving Forward on September 9, 2022 and moved into permanent housing less than three months later. Durant wanted "to be in [his] own
home by Christmas”, and he worked with the Rapid Re-Housing team work to make that dream a reality. Durant is very appreciative of the support he received from Families Moving Forward, and we are overjoyed for the family. |
Durham Chapter of the Links Inc. donated their annual holiday care baskets to the families in our shelter. |
