AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program that has been working to alleviate poverty in America since 1965.  VISTAs serve full-time (8 hours per day, 5 days each week) for one year building organizational capacity to carry out programs that fight poverty.  AmeriCorps VISTA members recruit and manage community volunteers, raise funds, and help create and manage projects.  More specifically, the Families Moving Forward AmeriCorps VISTA Program focuses on supporting families and children to overcome homelessness, increase self-sufficiency and secure and maintain housing permanently.  

  • All AmeriCorps VISTA members serve full-time (40 hours per week)

  • VISTA members are considered National Service Volunteers.  In addition to the benefits listed below, VISTAs will also build valuable leadership and project management skills. 

  • Benefits of Service:

  • Ideal candidates: Reside in the RDU area, are seeking a 12 month learning experience for future employment or to expand educational opportunities

  • Applicants must have a college degree, have own personal transportation, the ability to work 12 pm – 8 pm schedule.
